This is good for someone like myself who can talk about a lot of topics, but can't understand articles on those same topics because of the formal or classical uses of these characters. I'd love to see lessons like this with examples from real Chinese literature.

A "black sheep" ｗould be a kind of "害群之马“　by traditional Confucian Chinese standards since someone not conforming to family expectations (the most common definition of "black sheep") is harming the herd. Americans like to celebrate the highly individualistic (when they succeed), so "black sheep" in English frequently doesn't have the same negative connotations.  There are some highly celebrated mavericks here in China all the way back to Li Bai, but "害群之马“ couldn't be used to positively describe them!

I would call it "contextual resolution". Analogous to resolution of dissonance in music and pleasing for the same reasons.

I'm impressed with how fast you respond to the chatter and record a lesson to respond. QW is quite useful recently.
