April 11, 2019 at 1:22 AMFocus on the single character itself, and try to make an association between the meaning and its image. You can start by memorizing the most common characters, and work your way up. I know it's hard, but with some practice, you'll do just fine.

April 11, 2019 at 1:16 AMSorry we don't say "前午" and "后午". 上 and 下 have many meanings, they can be used to describe "before; last" and "after; next" as well. Like "上次" and "下次".

April 11, 2019 at 1:11 AMWhen 教 means "to teach", we pronounce it as "jiao1", so it's a typo in the text.

April 11, 2019 at 1:07 AM福如东海,寿比南山 is more commonly used. You can use 万寿无疆 for a toast, too, but it would sound more dramatic than it should since it's used to describe emperors.

April 10, 2019 at 6:07 AMIn written text, the correct pinyin for 好主意 is hao3zhu3yi4. But you would hear people pronounce it as hao3zhu2yi4 in real life because we're used to saying that. I know it's kind of tricky, but actually a lot of the standard tones do not reflect our real usage, you'd have to practice more with real people to get better tones:)

April 12, 2019 at 11:54 AMI think that is a nice suggestion! Socializing and making connections are really important in Chinese culture. 有关系就没关系!
