Thanks for the feedback! Sorry this lesson is a bit hard for newbie. You mentioned you can't hear Grace's voice when she's repeating the words, that's because she's just silently mouthing the words for the users to repeat:)

I'm sorry you didn't find this lesson useful. Our goal of this lesson is for people who are learning Chinese can just point at the big sign of "Subway" on the street and say "赛百味"! We thought it would be encouraging for the students to be able to say the Chinese brand names they're familiar with in full confidence:)  If you prefer to learn situational dialogues, we have one newbie lesson coming up, and we hope you'll like it!

We're sorry about that. It's a typo. 什 has different pronunciations and in 什么, it's pronounced as "shen2".

Yes it is! So many things require "天时地利人和":)

Thanks for the feedback! In terms of pronunciation, we're sorry about that, the host de-emphasized the "g" sound in "cheng2" and "sheng1", that's why they sound wrong to you.

I think you're thinking of 这(zhe4)! It means "this".

I think what they're saying is there's no direct equivalent to "yes" in Chinese because there's so many ways to response affirmatively. You're right, 正 in 正月(zhēng yuè) is supposed to be the first tone. Both usages 快点吃 and 快快吃 can mean "to eat faster".

Only when 正 appears in 正月 , it's pronounced as first tone, meaning the first month. In all the other usages, it's pronounced as the fourth tone.
