Many thanks, Gwilym! I have just downloaded the files successfully. Everyone else, go to it!

I reported this several days ago. Best guess is that the filenames that the RSS are requesting are different from the filenames that they have stored on their server.yell

Hi Gwilym,

I had missed the hyperlink icon, but I see it up there. Let me give it a try. Here's my home page, hopefully properly linked:

Thanks for the advice! Bill

Hey, ChinesePod folks, why does entering an obvious link not result in a clickable link, instead requiring one to copy it and paste it into the browser? Most places when I paste a link it will become a link. Why not here?

Click on this link:

This should bring up a page on ChinDict with the phrase entered. I think if you go down the page you can figure out for yourself how 爱 is used in this sentence.

ChinDict is a very useful resource. Bookmark it. Use it!

Yes, it is tone sandhi. Before 4th tone, bu (不) is second tone. Common examples are 不是 (bu2 shi4) and 不会 (bu2 hui4), which are often heard in speech.

Tone sandhi is important to learn. In this case it is just that bu (不) is a special word that changes tone in this way (there are several such, you have to learn them individually). The most important case is third tone followed by third tone, in which case the first third-tone changes into second tone.

Hopefully now fixed, I got downloads which seem to play (at least the first few seconds).

Thanks!

PS by "names" I of course mean the complete URL path to the files.

I suspect that the filenames given to iTunes are not the same as the filenames on your server. That is the usual reason why iTunes can't find a file. Please check the names you gave the RSS feed (iTunes) against the names on the server.

There are technical reasons why I do not want to use a downloaded file (not having them typed as podcasts means that they get stored in a different place on the computer and are hard to find) nor listen to streaming audio (since I like to put these lessons into my iPhone for use on trips to and from the University).

So please check the filenames.
