July 12, 2014 at 5:39 PMHi Juriaan,
About this 倔, I acctually struggled a lot while preparing this Qing Wen. There are two pronunciations on dictionary, second tone and fourth tone, both are adjective and have the meaning 'stubborn'. Like you said, I got no one around speaks the second tone. We should have mentioned this in the show.

July 5, 2014 at 7:21 AMGood question. I think maybe we should have explained our sample sentences with more context. You are right, the '单词' usually means foreign language word to most Chinese. It's a common sense. In this sentence '你说的是哪个单词?', I think it's more like 'Which English word are you saying?'. For Mandarin 'word', we usually use 词语,词组.

July 4, 2014 at 5:08 PM情形 is a synoym of 情况. They have same meanings and one can replace another for most sentences. But in 反映情况/fan3 ying4 qing2 kuang4, to report situations, you never use another one. It's more like a fixed term. Besides, I feel 情况 is more colloquial and commonly used than 情形.

July 4, 2014 at 4:47 PMHi si1teng2, well said. I got what you mean, but it's better to use 就/jiu4 instead of 只/zhi3 in your sentence. 蚊子就是蚊子!
