I suppose I wouldn't be using "brown" very often, if at all, since it's not even a colour I particularly like :P hehe but then again, like you said: "The trunk of a tree is not just to hold the leaves up. It is a thing of beauty in itself. In the winter you can see which tree is really pretty, and which just knows how to dress when spring comes around" What a beautiful thing to say and how true it is ^^ I think your post was much more informative than any vocabulary advice I could have hoped for! ^^ hehe it's only through simple things like colours, you can learn even more about the Chinese culture.

January 16, 2010 at 9:55 AMGreat song guys! ^^ but how would you say brown? In my dictionary and vocab books, it lists brown as both 棕色 and 咖啡色. I'm guessing that 咖啡色 means a coffee coloured brown :P but which one would you use 'more commonly'? But if you can use 咖啡色, can you use any kind of 'noun' to describe a colour as long as you have 色? Could you say 拧檬色?

Just wanted to ask, what's the difference between 中餐 and 中国菜? In the vocab section it lists both as being "Chinese food" but which one is more commonly used or like more 'correct'? I just can't really see the difference as to when you would use each of them. Do you get what I mean? :/

November 30, 2009 at 5:19 PMOh I see, 谢谢 lujiaojie ^.^ So you're saying that by itself, 上 is the fourth tone but when combined with other characters such as in 早上 and 晚上, it becomes neutral? So does this 'rule' apply to all other combinations with 上?

November 29, 2009 at 11:23 AMJust a quick question about the (possible?) tone changes of 上. It seems that when you say 早上好, the tone for 上 is a neutral tone but then if you go on to say 晚上好, the tone for 上 appears to change to a fourth tone. So which tone is 上 or does it all depend in which context it's being used?

January 31, 2010 at 9:06 AMEeeeeeek! We're getting an Avatar lesson! XD But like bababardwan, I'm slightly disappointed that it's going to be a Media lesson :( An Elementary lesson would be perfect for me but an intermediate I could perhaps just follow with the transcript but I think making it a Media lesson would perhaps rule out most of the 'listening audience' as the majority of listeners are probably Intermediate/Upper Intermediate. Just a suggestion.
