June 13, 2011 at 1:55 AM我不太明白这个句子: 先不说你们俩
看见了翻译是:"Don't worry about the two of you", 但是还不懂为什么它有这个意思。

May 14, 2011 at 1:56 AMThanks for the lesson - great content, and something I've recently been working on.
It would be great if the sexist generalisations could be avoided, though - "女生都不懂得hard drive"! What age are we living in? How could you describe comments like these? 性别歧视话 or 性别歧视的普遍话?What's the best way to say "generalisation"?
(Thanks John for sticking up for the girls!)

February 11, 2011 at 8:57 PMI have a question about 亲爱... This is something I've been wondering for some time. You said it can be said between two female friends as well as a boyfriend and girlfriend, but what about between male and female friends? I have a Chinese male friend who sometimes says things that make me wonder if he wants more than just friendship - especially if we're messaging. Dear Chinesepod, am I right to be feeling uncomfortable when he calls me 亲爱?

December 12, 2008 at 12:40 AMHi there,
In the expansion sentences, I was wondering what the purpose of the 先 was in the following sentence.
最近家里急用钱,你能不能先还我一些?

April 19, 2012 at 3:55 AMThis is not really related to preferences, but another use of "rather", the one relating to an unexpected outcome or behaviour... For example, how would you say something like: Rather than going up as we predicted, sales went down; or Rather than breaking up with her as he'd planned, he asked her to marry him.
