All these years, and I never properly appreciated alcohol's cultural place in Chinese society. 喝酒就有男人味!原来是这样子. Thanks guys.

I just ran this lesson text through Google Translate and the output was hilarious. I thought the CPod community would enjoy it too

[The reasons for doing this, in case anyone is interested, was to yield a pinyin script that so I can go home tonight and practice writing out the dialogue as a means of practicing my Chinese handwriting. The idea behind this technique is to separate out the acts of writing and sentence construction. When one is writing original text - say, a diary entry - not only do you need to focus hard on character composition, you also need to think about constructing good, grammatical Chinese sentences. It's hard. To make this a bit simpler, and to give each of those two distinct skills proper attention, I have recently taken to writing short Chinese compositions on the computer (thus testing my ability to construct nice, grammatical sentences without having to worry about character formation) and, separately, handwriting characters from a pinyin script taken from an authoritative source (thus meaning I can concentrate fully of character formation and not worry about creating good sentences)]

Here goes....

A: You want to go to the convenience store? I want to eat cold.

B: go, I go. Good storm, go get a cup of coffee.

C: Well, wait a minute, the parasols how not find.

B: convenience store so close, do not need an umbrella, right? Beauty is in trouble!

C: No, no, now very strong ultraviolet tanning difficult to recover.

A: I found that the Chinese seem particularly afraid of tanning. A few days ago I read the news, said a lot of women wearing masks Qingdao beach sunscreen, look good scary!

B: Haha, that is too exaggerated! Revealing only the eyes, nose and mouth, but also colorful, with a masked bandit-like.

Thanks if there on the street, on the beach, would certainly be considered is to rob a bank. But sunscreen is necessary, the saying goes: "a white cover three ugly" white look nice.

B: No wonder women are like white, afraid of tanning. Not to mention the beach, you see on the street, riding a bike, walking, and which one is not armed?

A: We are not afraid of tanning, we like wheat color of the skin, so it looks relatively healthy.

B: Chinese people think the kind of tan, black and yellow black and yellow not farmers, migrant workers, skin white description of the work, not by the sun and wind.

A: Oh, the original is this ah!

C: not all. Not the sun is also easy to freckle skin cancer.

B: Haha, how can there be so serious! You parasols find ah?

C: found. Hey, my sunglasses do not know where did.

B: You simply do not find, and also to buy the kind of mask forget.

上海人是出了名的温柔吗?我们谈的是那个特别大的与浙江和江苏接壤的都市吗?可能有两个上海?对,应该是。因为我觉得形容那个另外一个上海的话,温柔并不是合适的词!:)

啊,写中文时表达讽刺语气好象较难!不过我同意,它应该是香菜,就是在浑浊的海洋里一丁点的纯洁!(我怀疑这的句子无法看懂,你明白我的意思吗?)

"Don't pay attention to her. The slut is just being obstinate".

。。“哈哈哈”。。。吓死人
