...translates as 'Like guys showing off their beards'. Even assuming 'beard' is used as discussed above (though it's a new word for me, admittedly), it doesn't seem to make any sense.

January 23, 2013 at 1:06 PMAh, I was never likely to say that as the one-child policy has not dented the importance placed on having children in China. It's just increased the importance placed on that ONE child.
Addressing your other point, yes, the behaviour of the majority will ensure society goes on but then doesn't the fact that gay folk are not (usually) bestowing upon posterity a new generation make them fundamentally 'different' to the majority, and then shouldn't that difference be reflected - some how, some way - in the way that a society chooses to constitute itself (perhaps by making 'marriage' - the preferred context for procreation - something that is not open to gay people? Fine, get paired up, live and love, transfer property, write wills, seek redress from the law but don't try and get 'married' cos you won't be doing what is at the heart of most marriages - planting seeds).
Goodness, it is a thorny one this.
