The dialogue tracks will be much better from next week, but thank you for your notes regarding the main lesson content.

In the context of Jenny's chat with David, 秒杀 miǎo shā meant an online flash/fire sale whereby the sale of goods goes within moments. The translation we used was seckill which comes from online gaming chat (specifically LOL), again meaning a rapid dispatch of an opponent, similar to pawnd (I don't play online games so I may get this terminology wrong ;)

Check out this webpage for more background on seckill: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=seckill

Sorry for the slight hiss. I found the problem and adjusted the pop filter for today's lesson (Check out the High Quality version If you prefer high fidelity : )

Good spot earls. I had to stare at that for a good few seconds before I realised the radical was 木mù rather than 米mǐ. My font is clearly too small :)

@podcaster, I think you're right to practice on both. I do the majority on my 40min subway commute so the iOS app is my main weapon of choice. I wish they would add tone colours to it, but I believe they thought it would mess up the UI of the app since they already use colours for how well you remembered it.

I hope you're enjoying it. People look at me like i'm a wizard on the subway here, using my stylus to draw out characters quickly. I met the current Director of Skritter a few years ago and he was testing out a special 毛笔 máobǐ which allowed him to write as if doing calligraphy on the ipad. Needless to say, my mind was blown ;)

Hi jerryrock, thanks for the suggestion about getting to know the hosts a bit better.

Fiona has been a part of the Cpod team since July, and has appeared on serveral of the important chinese things podcast with Jenny and David.  You can check out the first lesson with her here.

If you would like to see both Constance and Fiona "in person" you can check out our new YouTube channel (or YouKu) and watch some video 请问's.

Alternativly, you can watch Fiona's youtube channel, MandarinMadeEZ for a bit more of a casual learning approach.  This video gives a bit of a FAQ about how she learnt Mandarin.

Thank you for the support.

Thanks for the feedback Pauligee. We will slow the pace down a bit for the next Intermediate lesson.
