I love how 点菜 is like an artform in China - ordering the right amount of dishes, a balance of flavors, etc. I can do it well at places I'm familiar with, but usually, a Chinese friend is simply much better at it.

Great question...and great answer! You're right, they're quite similar, but with some important subtle differences. From my understanding, all of what you've said above is correct. Although 情绪 doesn't implicitly carry a negative meaning, it's usually used this way, whereas 心情 is like your 心(里)情(况), and therefore more neutral.

Interestingly, I just had a conversation with a friend about this exact issue. I personally love grasslands and big open areas, but my friend gets the same feeling you described.

This kind of verb duplication is quite common. (看看，说说) It may have seemed strange seeing it with a disyllabic verb, but this happens as well. (商量商量， 研究研究) It acts to soften the tone of a verb, and also to emphasize the process of it. (Something like 一下, and the 'up', in the English 'cook up some food'.)

It should in fact be, 'next Monday'. I misread 周一 as 一周. (下一周 meaning, 'next week'.) Thanks for pointing that out.

Sounds awesome. I once took a train from Xi'an t Urumqi and it was very memorable for me as well.

I've heard that some Tibetan people use snuff, or snorting powdered tabacco, to help with altitude sickness while hiking, or going into higher areas. A Tibetan guy I met in Shangri-La gave me some and it was quite the kick. (Similarly, people in the Andes chew on cocoa leaves.)

Has anyone ever been to Lhasa? I've been to Yunnan and the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, but I've never been into Tibet and the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau. I've always wanted to go.

Baba is right on the money. If it were 美国时间 it would likely be the result of a mistake on the writer's end, but b/c it's 美国当地时间, it's referring to the time zone at which the match is being played. Because of that, I think a more precise translation would actually be "American local time".
