February 20, 2008 at 7:51 AMI listened to all the various tone lessons I could find, today, and although I'm still at newbie level I found them easy to follow. Good job! :) As for the fourth tone, I prefer to think of it as "emphatic" rather than angry, negative, or aggressive. In fact, it occurred to me that it could be considered the Captain Kirk Tone. You know, how William Shatner often tended to phrase Kirk's dialogue emphasizing individual words? Yes, that's it. The Captain Kirk Tone. :)

February 15, 2008 at 11:57 PMOn another related topic, there is a card game called "Tall Card" (which some have translated as "long pai") associated with the television show "Firefly". It's science fiction produced by Joss Whedon. Many folks have tried to come up with rules and such for Tall Card, but none of them have really clicked with me. February 15, 2008 at 10:45 PMI do hope that sometime there will be lessons for those who do not or cannot drink, either needing to keep consumption small or cannot drink alcohol at all, and how to deal with that socially.

February 15, 2008 at 10:39 PMAlso, there has been quite a bit of investigation medically as to alcohol tolerance, and there's evidence that genetic factors definitely come into play. It seems that the longer a culture has had alcohol, the better the tolerance.
