December 10, 2013 at 1:16 PM反而 is an adverb, usually translated in English as 'on the contrary', 'rather than'. Let's look at some example sentences.
困难吓不倒我们，反而激起我们更大的干劲。
Kùnnan xià bù dǎo wǒmen, fǎnér jīqǐ wǒmen gèng dàde gànjìn.
We were not cowed by difficulties. On the contrary, they inspired us to even greater effort.
风不但没停，反而更大了。
Fēng bùdàn méi tíng, fǎnér gèng dà le.
Rather than abating, the wind blew even harder.
却 is an adverb too, but is usually translated as 'but', 'however'.
今天是星期天，他却起得比平时还早。
Jīntiān shì xīngqītiān, tā què qǐde bǐ píngshí hái zǎo.
It's Sunday today, but he still got up earlier than usual.
他很有钱，却并不幸福。
Tā hěn yǒuqián, què bìng bù xìngfú.
He's rich, but he's not happy.

December 10, 2013 at 2:33 AMActually I know little about darts, but I think that 环 can mean a ring or a hoop in sports. Maybe it means (one of ?) the rings on the board.
I do approve of the way the player needs a swig of 酒 before throwing, no doubt he also has a 啤酒肚 and is a 烟卷不离口的人, lol.

It does sound so much like 夸张 (kua1zhang1) "boast, exaggerate, praise", but is clearly not the same character.
No negative sense to 夸奖 (kuājiǎng) I'd say.
