April 27, 2010 at 2:41 PMIf you mean you're gonna try transcribing it, cool! You'll be surprised how much you can learn from doing it, and I'm sure a few of us would be glad to pitch in!
Sadly I don't have as much time available these days as when I started the transcript group, but I like to think that the Intermediate level transcripts I did back then can really help to get the hang of understanding most of the podcast banter.

April 27, 2010 at 11:51 AMThis is a great set of lessons xiao_liang, rather corny at times but lots of useful and interesting language. The banter is (mostly) pretty challenging though, bear with it!

April 27, 2010 at 7:26 AM《心思》好像是很有用的词,我觉得第二声肯定是轻声,但是在词汇网页上我们看两个第一声,对吧?可能错吗?

April 27, 2010 at 6:20 AMHi jenny
Well it could be my grace, good manners and charm! Or it could be that old avatar of mine featuring Masaaki Sakai playing 孙悟空 in the old Japanese TV show Saiyūki (西遊記), or Monkey as it's usually known in the West. This was a show that was part of my childhood in England, you could say it was the way I first heard the great story of China, the way I first drank in the wisdom and humor that comes from the Journey to the West.
对了,here on Chinesepod there is a fine lesson on this subject, The Monkey King, and there is a transcript for this lesson too, done by my good friend zhenlijiang.

April 27, 2010 at 4:20 AMI'd say it's probably difficult to 'design' any kind of non-human but human-shaped blobby fun person/thing without it looking something like that gumby thing. Maybe it's more about how many ways can you design a pyramid than plagiarism.

April 28, 2010 at 2:09 AMNo, because 名 here is a measure word for persons, so from the context the meaning is clear that the grandfather was a navy person.
