When the word for photo is read with the 儿 (r) ending, as is often the case with speakers from northern China, it is pronounced:
照片儿 (zhàopiānr)
Without the 儿 (r) ending, it is pronounced:
照片 (zhàopiàn)
So both are correct, depending on your accent!

August 25, 2008 at 2:42 AMhi amfool,
Your sentence is not exactly correct. You can say:
这个开幕式很好
Zhège kāimùshì hěn hǎo
This opening ceremony is very good.
or
这个奥运会的开幕式很好。
Zhège Àoyùnhuì de kāimùshì hěn hǎo.
This Olympics opening ceremony is very good.
"这个" in this sentence means "this "
的 (de) is used to indicate opening ceremony belongs to this olympics, and the 的 (de) can be omitted.
For your other sentence, you can say:
找到一个人的好朋友
Zhǎodào yī gè rén de hǎo péngyou
Find a person's good friend.
一个人的好朋友
yī gè rén de hǎo péngyou
= a specific person's good friend.

我会弹钢琴。
Wǒ huì tán gāngqín.
I can play piano.
In the case of saying what level piano you play, it is expressed a little differenly in Chinese:
我的钢琴水平是4级。
Wǒ de gāngqín shuǐpíng shì 4 jí.

我病了,所以明天不能去你家了。
Wǒ bìng le, suǒyǐ míngtiān bù néng qù nǐ jiā le.
You would more likely use 能 (néng) because you feel you are not 'able' to go, due to illness.

August 23, 2008 at 3:19 PMhi guys,
Glad everybody liked the interviews. The BJ cab driver was my favourite part too. But when I listened to it (you don't often hear how you sound when you speak) all I could think was what a 'nanfang' (southern China) accent I have compared to him! :D Product of the environment!
Oh, oops maoxian... i've been in China too long, I forget English expressions! Or use out of date ones too!
