hi nicolas, The 才 (cái) in 我才知道 (Wǒ cái zhīdào) emphasizes that someone just now found something out, or realized, as in the following example. A: 他要结婚了。 A: Tā yào jiéhūn le. He is going to get married. B:是吗?我才知道。 B: Shì ma? Wǒ cái zhīdào. Really? I didn't know (as in, until you just told me this second)

I'm not exaggerating either. It might have even been 18. It was all very yum. If I knew how to post a photo in these comments I could post a pic of all of us and the dishes she made on the table!

hi sparechange, Actually 神经病 (shénjīngbìng) is a noun in Chinese, and the measure word is often left out when using the phrase. Literally you could translate that sentence as: 他是个神经病 (tā shìge shénjīngbìng...) He is a psycho / or a 'crazy'....

taiwanrunner, Interesting that you mention that. I remember that about Taiwan. The funniest time was when one day, in the morning, my English student told me that I looked fatter... and then my afternoon student told me that I looked like I had lost weight. All in one day! haha. Also in Taiwan they also are always complimenting foreigners left right and centre on how good looking they are (even when we're not!). I find that people don't really comment on appearance as much in Shanghai. Interesting.

hi henrylee, For now, (the instructions to the exercise explain) you enter the answer using pinyin. Later, we are going to add the character input function. So that may be why you are getting a zero score, if you are trying to enter characters it won't register at the moment.
