Candy is made of rice,corn or wheat (eg, malt sugar), the left part of 糖 is 米, that means rice. 3. your mnemonics is great, in the hotel , we name lobby to" 大堂", you can picure a wide and high place in hotel. 4.the left part of "躺" is "身”, that means body. 5.烫,the bottom of "烫" is "火",that means "fire".

I search "咱们", it has two expression, one of these is "do not make the distinction between the inclusive and exclusive 'we' " But I think you are right , sometimes I will also confused by complicated Chinese grammar.
