November 3, 2007 at 12:25 PMYeah I managed pretty well with street signs and on the subway. Although I usually double checked the English to make sure. Once went I was at, I think it was the main train station where it joins to the subway, the platform I was on the signs were in Chinese only but I still managed to identify the right station. I had have both Chinese and English subway maps for assistance as well though. I got pretty good at using the subway after a few days. There were a few occasions when I selected the incorrect fare on the ticket machines and wasn't able to get out at the final exit gate. I realised after a few times that you have to pick your final destination even if it's on a different line or just select 4元 and that should get you as far as you need to go.
