June 23, 2011 at 6:57 AMI agree that it's Xing Xing, and 毛毛 is the only one telling the truth. Ok, Baba got it four hours ago, why am I surprised? :)

June 23, 2011 at 1:26 AMI think you have to recharge your card first and then do it through 10068. I tried to ask at the kiosk for paper brochures on the plans and I just got '没有'。
At 10068 you talk to a real person. But you will need to research the plans first I think - it is very confusing unless you first know how the plans work. And know which plan you want - there are a number of options - I suggest you ask friends about that and get the details first. It is not just volume of use - it is about the various services attached to each plan.

June 22, 2011 at 2:27 PMThe lesson is a little confusing on this point - I think everyone is on a 'plan'. A plan does not equate to a contract. When you use pre-pay you may not realise what plan you are on - a lot of people I talk to don't know - you need to ring 10068 to find out & as the lesson says you can change the plan over the phone. Some people don't know what they are paying for - & lots of people pay for services they don't actually use.
To answer your question directly, I just charge my phone at one of the many kiosks around (there was quite a lot of discussion not long ago in another lesson about this.) I don't actually buy a card at all - but in some cities you buy a pre-pay card.
And to make another thing clear, you can have a pre-pay plan and go on the Internet using wi-fi.

June 22, 2011 at 1:55 PMI have a pre-pay plan - you can get one for 10 rmb ($1.50) a month. This means that if you don't use your phone at all, it will run out after a month; and it bundles some things in for the 10 rmb.

June 22, 2011 at 12:21 AM'it takes four to practice'
I think this might be a much-repeated myth (but I am certainly no expert!). I think that some versions do require four players, true. I have learnt three versions of the game - & I have always played in games with three players. None of the rules of these three versions would have made four players necessary. So you still need to find a couple more at least. :)

June 22, 2011 at 12:16 AM‘change seats all the time’
This is an important aspect of the game - people believe that the seat you are in can give you luck. Actually it refers to the direction you are facing. So if someone is winning all the time everyone wants to change seats with them.

June 20, 2011 at 3:32 PMWhile my 物业 employs some men, the majority of staff are women, and the boss is a woman. When ChinesePod harmonises this lesson in a couple of years time perhaps they will record the dialogue with a female answering the phone. :)
But I like this kind of subject matter - keep up the good work!

I'm wondering whether this term is a little dated .. okay, you note a lot of hits of Google which suggests otherwise, so to my second question: is it rather an unpleasant term? I looked at the nciku link and a couple of examples sound 大男子主义的 ??
