but for Chinese new year, it seems like people often take much longer than a week off from work and school

Question:

The dialog says there are 3 "golden weeks" in China every year. Besides the labor day one, when are the other two?

(这节课的对话里说中国每年有三个“黄金周”。 除了五一劳动节之外, 另外两个黄金周是什么时候,是 什么节日?)

There is another lesson on Chinesepod that's related to "labor", and it has the same exact lesson photo. I totally thought this was the a lesson that I was going back to review, and then realized that it's a completely different lesson.

It would probably be better for C-pod not to recycle lesson photos, especially if the lessons using the same photo are related to each other

Question:

This lesson has the word 除夕, and the English definition is "New Year's Eve".  My question is, when Chinese people say or write 除夕, do they mean the night before New Year's Day, or both the day and night before New Year's Day?

除夕 refers to Lunar New Year's Eve, as opposed to Western New Year's day. So, how do we say New Year's Eve when referring to the Western New Year (元旦) ?

it is a tough lesson. I was just listening to it. I think it's just a particularly challenging lesson. The transcript, which there is a link to above in the comments, is quite useful

nice. I suggested this lesson a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if Chinesepod was already planning on doing this lesson, or if they saw my suggestion

Question:

Is 夫子庙 a general name for any Confucian temple, or is the name of one specific temple in Nanjing ?

Bruce Lee is undoubtedly the king of kung fu. I think a much closer comparison would be Jackie Chan vs. Jet Li. Most martial artists probably wouldn't even think to compare Bruce Lee with the other two.

Great Mandarin lesson, though!
