素菜和荤菜我都喜欢吃！老妈经常对我说，“偏食对身体健康最不好。” 我家小胖狗“芭迪”也很同意这个想法。芭迪每次吃饭都吃得很香，除了狗肉什么都爱吃。她减肥一次也没成功过就是很理所当然的事情！

Besides 颗 (ke1) and 枚 (mei2), you can use 粒 (li4) as a measure word for 珍珠. 一串珍珠 is a string of pearls, as rjberki said, and 一串珍珠项链 indicates a pearl necklace that is made of a lot of pearls. As far as I can see on the Internet, frequency seems to be 一粒珍珠 > 一颗珍珠 > 一枚珍珠. I guess that 一枚 is more formal than others.
As you know, both "颗" and "粒" are measure words used for something small and round, but more precisely speaking, "颗" can be used for something bigger than those for which 粒 is used, since "粒" originally indicates "米粒" (a grain of rice). So, you can say 一颗脑袋 and 一颗人造卫星, but not 一粒脑袋 and 一粒人造卫星.

我吃过好几次"香肉"，但是没吃过"田鸡肉"。我还清楚地记得，有一次我一个中国朋友在餐厅给我推荐了一碗青蛙汤(又称"蛤蟆汤")，不过那时的我怎么也不敢吃汤里漂浮的那一只大青蛙，看起来确实太恶心了！还有，我刚才发现的一条信息警告说，田鸡肉对人体健康有重大危害，因为青蛙体内很可能会有非常有害的寄生虫。你敢不敢吃？
青蛙汤：刚吃完饭的人别看，后果自负。

People bury a body with a lot of 纸钱 in order to make his afterworld life rich. A Chinese saying goes like this, "有钱能使鬼推磨" (Money talks even in hell). Japan also has a similar tradition, but the amount of "money" is very small. It's only enough for cross-the-Styx fee.

August 21, 2009 at 1:54 AMThe wisdom "生不带来死不带去" doesn't apply to some "born with a silver spoon in the mouth" guys. A good example should be 秦始皇 (Qin Shihuang), the first Emperor in Chinese history. He tried to take a lot of treasure and even several thousand of (terracotta) soldiers and horses to "kingdom" come with him, although I'm not sure if he is as rich in the next world as he was in this world.

I'm not sure about that. Maybe you can say "祝你生日快乐" in that case. Actually, one of my Chinese friends held his birthday party IN ADVANCE a few years ago due to his business trip scheduled on his birthday. We shouted "提前祝你生日快乐" at the party. 提前 (ti2qian2) means "in advance".
P/S. Thankfully, shenyajin has given us the answer, “迟到(chi2dao4)的生日快乐”. (Happy delayed birthday)

"也"这个词除了"also"以外还有几个重要的意思和用法。下面是我的一本词典里的几个例句。(1)和(2)是在古汉语中常见的用法。这两个"也"的功能分别是"表示判断的语气"和"表示疑问的语气"。例句(3)里的"也"好像可以翻译成"still/despite", (4)表示委婉，(5)里"也"的意思相当于"even". 你的汉语词典里也肯定会有类似的例句和解释。你查一查吧。

(2) 何也？

(4) 你也得对人宽容点儿。

If you don't like 纸钱, you can use more "real" counterfeit money (for general use) you sometimes encounter at shops in the PRC. In the case you feel they are still too expensive, I recommend you use fake counterfeit bill (very low-quality bogus bill) that are available in China. Everytning goes here!
