You can't find 有缘无分 (and 有缘无份) in ordinary chengyu dictionaries, so I guess it's a relatively recently made phrase probably by modifying the word 缘分（yuan2 fen4, destiny), and if so, the right one should be 有缘无分 as indicated in the vocab section. That said, actually there are tons of 有缘无份, as well as 缘份, on the net. Maybe it's a typing error, as is often the case in this computer age.

烟灰缸 is more difficult to remember than 盐 is, but once you memorize them, 烟灰缸 is much easier to be understood by your Chinese interlocutor even if your pronunciation is not so good. On the other hand, one-character words are sometimes really "difficult to communicate" for us foreign learners.

Good job! Actually it's more difficult to properly ask for an ash tray than to ask for salt. An ash tray is 烟灰缸 (yan1 hui1 gang1) in Chinese, which is much longer than 盐 (yan2).

I still remember when I used a western style toilet for the first time about forty years ago, which was a somewhat uncomfortable experience for me. I felt as if I were NOT using a toilet, but were studying or eating sitting at table, hehe.

I just recommend you look into Chinese - English dictionaries published here in China. You would find a lot of weird/funny/clumsy/outdated English translations in them. Maybe the same holds for Chinese dictionaries edited in foreign countries, Wenlin included.
