May 15, 2012 at 7:34 AMThe Western engagement with politics is optional I guess but it began for me at High School in New Zealand and progressed at University. From my understanding and experience Chinese students from a very early age engage with political obedience as opposed to political inquiry or political understanding.

May 13, 2012 at 3:11 AMYeah I'm very interested in that construction as well - I usually encounter it reading the news in Chinese and then often in quoted language and often used in regard to Tibet or Xinjiang. I think your translation is on the mark. Used as either verb or noun I suggest.
