Worryingly, despite being a Pearl Jam fan, I think it was the karaoke'tastic Robbie Williams song of the same name that first came into my head. Clearly, far too much time spent in Partyworld Shanghai (above-board karaoke joint) with their somewhat limited selection of english pop songs...

This actually threw me when I was transcribing this lesson, particularly as I misheard Duly's zhongliang as zhongliao. I might clarify the transcription link in case others get confused.

Your understanding of the 250 vs 205 difference is the same as mine guolan. Similar principles apply to larger numbers with zeroes in various positions, I believe.

Having not touched maths equations for quite some time, I don't think I could say the equation posted by Grambers out loud in English, let alone Chinese!

Having said that, the subsequent discussion is making me nostalgic for my A-Level maths and further maths days!

bodawei, did the dictionary say when the UK switched from "million million" to "thousand million". I'm also British and for the whole of my life (mid 30s) I've only ever referred to a billion as a thousand million. Perhaps I was just ignorant when I was younger....

I do exactly the same. Particularly noticeable during rapid fire flashcard workouts...

Is it just me, or did anyone else find this dialogue quite a challenge to understand?  The speed of delivery was much faster than other intermediate lessons and I really struggled to differentiate the words.  Even when I opened the PDF and read along with the dialogue I still found it difficult.
