October 30, 2011 at 7:33 AMIs "check mark" just another case of a difference between American English and British English? I've always referred to that shape simply as a "tick" or a "tickmark" (although for the auditors out there I know a tickmark does not necessarily need to be a tick in shape). Would Americans know what I mean by "tick"? Apologies for the digression from Chinese!
