June 30, 2007 at 8:31 AMAZERDocMom https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3349 This one is free and has the best dictionary. You may need to have and upto date Firefox. The installation is easy and you can toggle it on and off via the tools menu. As I said, I don't like having the English by default but there doesn't seem to be way around that at the moment

June 29, 2007 at 11:30 AMAZERDocMom If you are using Firefox web browser there are plugins the will flash up pinyin and translations as you mouse over. It is very convenient. I think tend to find that as I get better I just want the pinyin for characters I might know the word for in spoken Chinese (I haven't found one that just does that though and am tempted to write one). I have learnt to read a lot of characters this way, the danger is it could be used as a crutch. I tend to find that I want to read things fluently though so strive to use the mouseover as little as possible. My thought was to write a simple plugin that just acts a character magnifier and shows pinyin for any characters. I thought this might be a useful aid for those who can speak or understand a lot more than they can read.

June 26, 2007 at 11:55 AMXiaohu, 谢谢你的鼓励。 我的妻子是英国人，如果她是中国人，那么我一定在现在以前学会了中文 （对我来说，学会她的母语非常重要，不过我能了解别的看法）。 二零零六年（去年）我就开始学中文，现在学中文是我的最喜欢的爱好。一开始的时候我没学汉字，没学写中文，所以我听的懂和讲中文的能力比较高。 有时我会见面中国人，能问他们很多问题，不过每一个人有自己的语文看法。北方人，南方人，台湾人，年轻人，老人 都有自己的语文看法。有时他们的回答不一样，因此我的＂爱人＂混乱。 现在我需要很多写中文的练习，所以我来这里了：）

June 22, 2007 at 7:41 PM嗯， 我在听一边这个播客，这次我也听说《爱人》这个词。 现在我不肯定，一个中国的朋友告诉我这个单词比较陈旧《他是北京的年轻人》。 我已经知道，对文言的问题很多人都有自己的·看法，也许他和他的同学不喜欢这个词， 可是别的人常用，英国年轻人也是这么样的。

July 1, 2007 at 10:21 AMxiaohu, 当然你过奖了我， 我一定不是那么天才。 我认为就目前学中文越来越容易。 每一个天我可以通过网络看中文电视剧，听中文广播，网络也有许多学中文的内容，所以目前的学习方式比较方便，需要比较少的时间。 五年以前，我觉得学习情况不是那么方便。如果十年以前，那么我并不会学中文，对我来说传统的学习系统真的太难。
