February 22, 2011 at 3:48 PMWow, that second point is such a subtle distinction. Thanks for clarifying!

February 22, 2011 at 12:46 PMThat's why I bought those mini packs of tissues and carry them with me everywhere. :)
They also ration water use in some parts of the U.S. I was staying at a hostel in Monterrey, CA and you got a coin that you used to start the water, and this was timed to last 5 minutes...so after that time, you'd better be finished or you'd still be soapy.

February 21, 2011 at 2:04 PMI have a couple of questions on the lesson:
- Why did it say in the dialogue “...去做手术吧!"? I'm confused by the use of 做 here. If I was just reading this, I would take this to mean that she is performing the surgery, but it means that the surgery is being performed on her. Confusion!
- Instead of "有个叫王小毛的男生。” could you say: “有个男生叫王小毛。"?

February 21, 2011 at 7:00 AMYeah - especially if you wash them yourself anyway. I thought it might have been an issue of practicality. The plastic-wrapped dishes might have been sent out to a company to be cleaned? You'd want to wrap them for transport or they'd probably just get dirty again. It seemed that way to me...but I was just guessing.

February 11, 2011 at 5:24 PMHa - that's definitely possible. Also it's not always obvious that you have the option to wash the dishes because the waiters won't say anything. They will bring a teapot with hot water in it and perhaps an extra dish to pour the waste hot water into - or you just use one of your own dishes and they will replace it. If you don't use the hot water, sometimes they will just silently take it away. So if you weren't paying attention you never even knew it was there. (This has happened to me before.) If you order tea, sometimes they will bring two teapots, one with tea and one with hot water - you can use the hot water to rinse your dishes and also to refresh the tea when it gets cold/bitter.

February 11, 2011 at 4:11 PMEver since I've been using CPod (about 2.5 years), I've manually added my own labels, just like RJ described. I still do this for every lesson. It only takes about a minute because all you have to do is go to the vocab page after you save the words, click all the new words (the most tedious part), and then assign a new label using the drop down box (via the bottom-most selection).

February 10, 2011 at 10:31 AMPeople from Hong Kong typically wash the dishes with hot water before using them (even if they come wrapped in plastic). I guess there is no guarantee that they're well cleaned. I was surprised when I visited my friend who is from Hebei and she also washed the restaurant dishes...but then she lives in Xiamen now (Fujian province) so maybe she's been affected by that.

March 4, 2011 at 7:11 AMWhat is the best way to say "I'm clumsy"? Because I am...
我可以说吗:我很笨拙。我在饭店常常掉筷子。
wǒ kěyǐ shuō ma: wǒ hěn bènzhuō. wǒ zài fàndiàn chángcháng diào kuàizi.
And how would you say, "I always trip over my own feet."? (Also sadly true.)
