“加班 jia1 ban1" is the word for "work overtime”, it's a verb.
你昨天加班了吗?
"加工“ is a verb which means " to process".

March 10, 2010 at 2:28 AM你好,“ 合适”是形容词(adj),“适合”是动词(verb)。
所以你可以说“我觉得这件衣服很合适”。
"这件衣服很适合你"=the clothes suit/fit you very well.

February 21, 2010 at 3:43 AM我老家温州没有请财神的习俗,但是春节我们一定要去山上“拜坟”(visit a grave ),然后在山上放鞭炮或者放烟花,让坟墓也显得很热闹。

February 20, 2010 at 12:13 PMhi guys
I mean when you want to say " how are you", you should say "你好吗?“ instead of ”你怎么样?“.
a lot of Chinese teachers like to use this to help the beginners.

February 20, 2010 at 7:19 AMhi, this is not common , and it sounds strange for Chinese.
you'd better say "你好吗?" instead of "你怎么样?"

January 14, 2010 at 3:54 AMI am sorry, I thought using the "math symbols" would make it more clear for you since not every one is a linquist. the explanation can be two ways, one is " language is 习惯, we used to say that, sometimes you can not explan why" another explanation refers to the grammar that is what I tried to do. hope you will get a better explanation to solve your problem.

March 10, 2010 at 8:59 AMHi, you can not say "滅人".
"滅" is usually used for fire or light.
for example, 吹滅蠟燭chui1 mie4 la4zhu2(blow out the candles).
"滅" also means "to exterminate" ,like "滅鼠mie4shu3"(to exterminate rats )
the word for "annihilate" is ”殲滅 jian1 mie4“, you can say" 殲滅敵人jian1mie4 di2ren2"(annihilate the enemy)
