light487, I hope to catch up to you some day.  I had a hard time keeping up with the dialogue today, let alone trying to understand mianto go to town on the comments section here.

Must keep trying.

grettir,

Yes, that is Cantonese, and is the same as 恭喜发财   Some other cantonese sayings for the new year

"sun tuy geen hong" - good health

"bo bo go sing" - wishing someone a higher promotion

I have high odds that you will land a job pretty quickly in the Big Apple.  Are you in a "new york state of mind" yet?

Much thanks for your work at CPod, best of luck in the big apple, and stay away from the Prada's and Rolex's on Canal St.  Wait a sec... you're from Shanghai, you have street smarts already.  I would be very much entertained, as your other listeners would be to view your interpretations of NYC life... especially Chinatown NYC life.

There's a decent place for inexpensive and tasty clay pot fired food "bo jai fan" (I don't know the mandarin pin yin, so cantonesenglish will have to do) on Bowery St, in Chinatown close to the Manhattan Bridge.  It's called Yummy Noodles, you can't miss it.

Tomoe Sushi on Thompson st in the West Village is a fabulous restaurant.  It's packed all the time, but a great place to go to get clean cut sushi.

JP, Just saw some of your videos on youtube.  Bro, you should do stand up numbers.  Confessions of an Amber fan... that was hilarious.

Connie,

when playing black jack, how would one say "Hit Me"

I know 打我  probably doesn't make sense...

I hope you guys at Praxis are not affected by the credit crisis.  I can't survive without CPOD.

Thanks Jenny,

That works.  I was leaning more towards the context of speaking to someone who is habitually late, hence the "明白吗?" reference.

How does one say "on time" in the office context.

你在办公室 [on time?].  明白吗?
