November 21, 2007 at 4:36 AMI would like to know how to say the following professions, if anyone cares to take a crack at it: writer, artist, filmmaker, chef, and the ever-popular... International Man of Mystery!

November 6, 2007 at 2:00 PMHey, nicolas? Even John, Dave and Amber would consider themselves "advanced learners," and I can't think of better people to help me learn. This site is *run* by advanced learners!

November 5, 2007 at 6:50 PMmdtubio - I'm just past the Newbie level myself, so don't take my word as Law, but it's my understanding that the "ba" (吧) particle indicates a suggestion, or prompts agreement. In this case, the question would be translated as roughly, "You're okay, right?" That's why the response reads "Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks." As for the second, "ma" (吗) is the right particle at the end of that sentence! Hope that helps!
