This sounds intriguing.

I want to second kejianbo and mark's ideas about clarifying the differences between similar words, whether they are similar in Chinese (mark's suggestions) or similar in English (kejianbo's suggestions). I always enjoy and find useful that type of qingwen.

How about a mini-synopsis of one of the four great Chinese classics? Or maybe, you could describe some of the famous characters in one of the classics, teaching us ways to describe people. "Dream of the Red Mansions" has fun characters...I would love to know how to express my opinion that Daiyu is pouty and manipulative!

And, so many of my Chinese friends have read and analyzed these books, that it makes for fun discussions to see how, at times, foreigners maybe view the characters a bit differently than the authors may have intended.

尊敬的请问的老师们:

  今天的题目很有用,我们学生们可以马上去试用。我还想问一下,在一个句号或者问号的后面,我们应该空一格吗?谢谢你们的帮助!

  祝你们天天开心!

I don't know why they did it that way, but it was a help to me...I'm having trouble getting anything on Chinese Pod to work today (problem on my end...my internet connection often has issues). I wasn't able to open the video on this page, or download it to my computer. But, hurrah, hurrah, Tudou worked wonderfully.

And, you get to see a rather cool advertisement for KFC, set in ancient China, before the Chinese Pod video starts!

Thank you! It is 善有善报,恶有恶报 that my teacher used to say all the time - I misquoted. 我的记忆力很差!

A Chinese friend tells me using "可怜" can't really come across as condescending.

(Just adding an answer in case anyone else wondered about this!)

太有意思了,谢谢!

Are these three correct?

无可奈何 wu2ke3nai4he2

酸甜苦辣  suan1tian2ku3la4

丰都县  Feng1du1xian4

I couldn't catch one word - it sounded like "shenzhai", but I'm not sure; is someone else able to guess which word I mean?

Another phrase I've heard one of my teachers use often is:

hao3you3hao3bao4,huai4you3huai4bao4.

Does anyone know if I'm quoting it correctly? Or how to write the "bao" in hanzi? I can't figure it out!

I really enjoyed these two lessons.
