July 8, 2017 at 5:45 AMMy understanding from another CP lesson is that 禿然 implies something moving fast, such as a car suddenly turning a corner, or a person suddenly running into a room. 忽然 is something that happens in a split second, but doesn't necessarily involve motion, such as suddenly remembering you left the iron switched on.

Here's the system I use for listening to dialogues on Chinesepod:
First I look at the vocabulary section, without looking at the dialogue. I use a piece of paper to cover the pinyin and the English translations, and first see what characters I recognize and can read. Sometimes I can read a word but i don't know what it means, so I have a guess. Then I move my piece of paper so I can check the pinyin, but still cover the English translations, to check for any mistakes. Then I look at the translations.
After this, I listen to the class and the dialogue. I keep the vocabulary page visible, which gives me some idea of what words I'm hearing, but I still have to put the meaning together myself.
This was a fast dialogue, but by the second listening, I pretty much had a grip on everything. I think without previewing the vocabulary I would have been lost, but I still got a great piece of listening practice, without reading the dialogue. Hope this helps!
(You could also use the paper the other way, first just looking at the English translations, covering up all the Chinese. Then you can see if you can recall the Chinese words already.)
(Edit: I need a piece of paper because I've got the cheapskate membership, with the pdf download, I'm sure with the fancy membership vocab section, you can hide and reveal the translations more easily!)

In the traditional pdf, the supplementary vocabulary uses 項鍊 instead of 現鏈. Is this a mistake? Also, the pinyin uses "zhuanshixiangliang" (instead of lian).
