June 13, 2012 at 11:46 PMTo me, Paris is the mecca of classical music - lots more choices for smaller recitals and venues and the breadth of genres covered is broader. Vienna is too much Mozart and waltzing for my taste, but then I tend to like solo instrumental, vocal and chamber.

VPN? There was a New York Times piece a couple of months ago that mentioned a company or maybe an NGO which talked about installing a clean copy of an OS (i.e. going into China with no proprietary info), going to China, not *ever* connecting to any network. Then, when they get back to the US, they wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS. Now that is what I call hardening.
I wonder if I am more vulnerable to viruses in the US because I browse so many China, dot cn, websites.

June 14, 2012 at 10:54 PMThere are also several varieties of car sharing services. There's car sharing straight up, like Zipcar, which I've used. Another type is sharing of cars owned by regular people, basically, AirBnB for cars.
Is there anything like ZIpcar in Beijing or Shanghai?
