December 28, 2011 at 3:43 AMI definitely agree that ChinesePod hasn't finished its job in helping students. I am curious to know why you think full transcripts would be important? And for a higher level student, what's important to you?
My thinking on this issue is that we would not really help students if we look at our service introspectively.
The truth is students don't use one resource exclusively or even primarily at different stages of their learning. But what students at different levels all need are comprehensible and relevant input, personalized review and speaking practice. I see our value in providing that input as a basis to get the ball rolling. With the other 2 areas, I think we should be working on making it easier for people to find good resources.

December 25, 2011 at 12:53 AMIt wouldn't be appropriate for a person of lower social status to say 隨意 in response to a person who has the higher social status. It would be serious 'face-damaging'. I think in a vendor/customer relationship, most people will empty the cup. But if you are not a drinker or have health concerns, it should be OK. And you don't have to really finish the drink each time after a toast. However, doing it for the first drink is important.
