That was a great idea to interview the people behind the scenes. Songjiabin was so interesting and fun to listen to. I hope he can come and do some more recordings maybe in future advanced/media lessons

jiaojie and david's english was so good!! it was nice to hear them have a chance to practice their english in this segment.

me too, i love the way she presents the lessons, and when I couldnt understand what she was speaking about 2 years ago when i first started listening to the advanced lessons, i still thought her way of speaking was so great for the advanced lessons. The right about of humour and quickly speeding through each section that needed to be covered. I really hope she reads this and WILL come back to the advanced/media lessons.

by the way, don't worry, don't feel intimidated by the advanced lessons, you will be able to 听明白 in no time! 加油!

thanks catherine, I am sorry to give another post on this. When i put it in the community post section it seems it gets overlooked or little response. I have been such a fan of chinesepod for such a long time and IN NO WAY AM CRITICISING DAVID JIAOJIE OR CONNIE, nor do i want them replaced, i just want some change and some more male native speakers in the advanced/media lessons. And then as i mentioned above, they do say at the end of each podcast, 'if you have anything you want answering, or any requests about future podcasts come to the website and leave them' . I only listen to advanced and media lessons now so I find it so repetitive not to have any change. It is nice that dilu is now a new member of the native team, (even tho i haven't heard her yet I know it will be a nice fresh change to the advanced/media). Could I ask if it is or isn't likely to get any different male native hosts for the advanced/media lessons in the near future?

Thanks for your comment. I have yet to find another website as good as chinesepod, however I have found that other websites have more men hosts, which i believe to be crucial. I understand about the content ofcourse, but for me, i believe that the male intonation and way of speaking is equally crucial.

I might of guessed someone would have something to say about my previous post. Perhaps I have been flooding the forums, but that is because at the end of every single chinesepod lesson, the hosts say '如果你有什么问题,或有什么要求的话 登陆到我们的chinesepod点com来告诉我们。 so to be honest i don't think it is being unreasonable to request the hosts to be varied slightly. I have loved chinesepod from the first time i started using it, and although as a previous member said, the content of the podcasts are important, however the tone and way of speaking is also VERY important in my opinion. I believe that i have statedin previous posts various reasons for my request to switch up the hosts of the advanced/media lessons.

Here are some more reasons, I believe as a 21 year old male, it is important to hear various types of male voices, to allow us men to develop our chinese from a male tone of speech. Having predominantly female teachers, we risk adopting a female method of speaking, 娘娘腔, rather than developing the tones men use when speaking. Another reason is for our own listening. I personally find listening to women speak chinese much easier than men. Having various male native hosts would allow us to get familiar with the male tone of speech. The reason I request Jenny back is because in my opinion she was the heart of the advanced lessons. She had the perfect humour, the perfect way of giving the lines, speaking very fast yet clearly, and really nice to listen to. I just think it is a shame the advanced and media lessons have changed from her leading everylesson, to her not being part of the advanced/media hosts at all.

I am not here to criticise anyone, neither do i like to start controversial, or any kind of 'offending anyone' posts. I just think that new hosts, or getting the old ones back to carry on working alongside connie, jiaojie and david shouldn't be too hard. The population as big as china, it should not be difficult to find some fresh teachers/hosts for the advanced/media lessons.

omg  when are the new teachers coming ??????????

i thought they were starting last week? I am sorry to say this but due to the constant constant repetition of advanced teachers, I will not be renewing my subscription to chinesepod. After 2 years of being a dedicated chinese pod addict, the lack of change has put me off! They are a lot of other learning chinese pod sites with alternative male voices and ongoing alternation of hosts, rather than the same three over and over again. I just want to make clear that I have no problem with David, connie or jiaojie. They all are great hosts, but the lack of change is so boring, despite my many many requests to change. Jenny has still not come back to do any advanced or media lessons, and the new teachers have not started despite the previous podcast promising they would start last week!
