我也很喜欢钓鱼，下次会澳大利亚的时候我钓到三条牛尾鱼。这是我最喜欢吃的鱼。在中国我没看到牛尾鱼，好像这类型是南太平洋的特色。

When I looked up Flathead it came up with 牛尾鱼 which translates into ox tail fish. Is this the same kind of fish you can find hiding in the sand banks of Australia?

Thanks for your explanation, it helps alot 你太聪明了 I wasnt too sure if my grammar and word usage was right but you cleared it up for me :)

As for 我的妈呀, my old colleague would use it in every situation she could think of. She was from a city near Nanjing. I thought it was pretty funny so I started using it too.

有一次我太慢拿我的钱从一个自动提款机, 它吃掉了我的卡。中国银行的银行出纳员都笨死了那天！让我去四个另外的银行也还找不到我的卡。总之我都收回我的钱开始新的账户和别的银行。

Heres a clearer version of the story in my mother tongue... :)

Once I took too long to count the money I withdrew and the ATM ate my card. This was with the Bank of China, and I gotta say they were no help at all. They sent me to about 4 different banks before I gave up, withdrew all of my money and started a new account with another bank. 烦死了这个银行，让我发火 '_'

Yea, It was at 金鸡湖。They didn't say if they saw the parents walking around with photos but I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Part 2 of that story is while he was there some SBS TV recruiters convinced my friend to go on a dating show called 开心花园, a bunch of us went to cheer him on but to our surprise every contestant had their parents sitting behind them with the most serious looks on their faces and telling them who to choose and who not to choose. Since he didn't have parents there 2 of our friends sat behind him instead drinking gin and tonic out of water bottles.

In the end the few girls that did accept the guys their parents wanted did not look happy at all.

My friend didn't get chosen by the parents, the very serious chubby pimpled engineer type seemed a much better choice than a foreigner with 2 of his crazy mates behind him.

Also something else that comes to mind... My friend heard of a match making thing here in the city I live, where a whole lot of singles would gather at the lake to meet their future 情爱的‘s.

Two of my friends went there in search of love and the funny thing they said about it was most of them were 20-30 something year olds with their mothers  pushing them to talk to people, and they didn't look happy.

In the end my friend met a girl which he's still with over 2 years later. And luckily for them 妈 wasn't there or theres no way he woulda went near her.

To answer your question all the way up there I heard you can say for gold digger: 钓金龟婿 fishing for a golden turtle. Others I think are funny happen to be:

老牛吃嫩草 old cow eats tender grass an old man trying to get a younger lady

小白脸 small white face a young guy with an older richer lady

I don't really remember there being so many rules for somebody who is pregnant back in Australia. for eg...

- Should cut your hair short

- Stay away from computers

- Don't have any contact with pets

- Don't use mobile phones

- Can't wash yourself for about a month after giving birth

To me some of these seem pretty strange. Is there anything to back these up? Or are they just old wives tales? I know some of them are also common in other asian countries.

I've heard of 炒鱿鱼 before. Kinda funny as it also means fried squid.
