August 24, 2009 at 3:20 PM你好，this lesson probably aimed to mimic the way some of those fast-talking dudes on 南京路 speak. It's almost impossible to detect 便宜 (line 3) and 只要 (line 5) with the .pdf in front of me. It's way too fast. In some of the Elementary lessons the dialogue is spoken a little faster than in the Newbie lessons and in most others it seems (to me) things are said only a notch or two slower than average. That speed (half-a-step slower than average) works great for Elementary lessons, IMO. Even average speed is ok but this one is just too much.
At some point you guys did a lesson about two street vendors trying to decide what to sell to foreigners (What Do Foreigners Like), one of the best lessons I have listened to. They talk fast but I can definitely make out the words after the debriefing by Jenny and Ken.
