I am on the same boat.
I looked 提醒 on nciku.com and in some cases it can mean "to warn" or "to caution", for example to warn someone that the floor is slippery. Also on mdbg.net there are some example sentences in which 提醒 means to caution, if you click on the Jukuu logo.

October 31, 2010 at 3:54 AMVery good instinct, I actually googled Volkswagen and it does mean "the people's car", so 大众汽车 is actually a very good translation from the German.

October 31, 2010 at 1:37 AMI don't know about needlesticks but I'm pretty sure one's fingers would run into something sticky and/or smelly so I ain't fishing for no seat belts in a Chinese taxi.
Nice to see you manage to keep a sense of humor about the wallet experience, hope it never happens again.

October 30, 2010 at 12:29 PMIf we want to negate the 被__管 (i.e., 被老婆管), do we say 被老婆不管 (my wife doesn't boss me around)?
How about:
YOU don't run me, and THEY don't run me!
被你不管,被他们也不管!
对不对?^_^

October 30, 2010 at 12:00 PMLooks like 大众 is also how we say "Volkswagen" (大众汽车).

October 30, 2010 at 10:11 AMThe R-rated version of "Mind your own business!" uses a different "guan". ^_^ I thought it was 管 but it's 关. Connie said it in another QW, it was pretty funny.

Welcome back. I think we will begin to understand the Intermediates more and more, just a mater of time and to keep practicing.
