Although as a foreign teacher in China I don't get the end of year bonus, I'll often get bonuses for teachers day, National day, and other random days. I'm not complaining!

I live in Changsha, and often the locals will say 你的普通话比我的很标准. It seems like such high praise until I actually hear them speak such things as "FuNan" or "fui jia" and then I realise that my terribly middling 普通话 is more standard than theirs!
