July 12, 2010 at 9:42 AMSo the sentence in this dialogue:
我自学了两年
seems to mean that I studied on my own for two years (ie. a finished action and am no longer studying on my own)
If I wanted to say "I have been studying on my own for two years" (i.e. and am still studying on my own) would the grammar change?
谢谢!

June 1, 2010 at 7:51 PMSo if I use a similar structre to 放上去, does that mean if I wanted to say for example "put it under the table" I could say 放下去这张桌子.... or maybe 放在这张桌子放下去...or maybe neither!

March 9, 2010 at 12:57 PMGreat show Jenny! plus I'm always interested in learning about new authors - the next book I plan to read now is Raise the red lantern, it's just too bad I won't be in Shanghai for the festival!

August 4, 2010 at 8:39 AMThanks for the food related lesson. I've spend the past few weeks studying all the food vocab I can before my trip to China, so that even if I can't read what's on the menu at least I´ll have a few dishes in mind to tell the waiter.... I feel like whenever you travel to a new country sometimes the most frustrating thing is the food, because either you are just ordering "safe dishes" that you could really get anywhere in the world, or you order some unexpected strange dish and are highly disappointed - anyway i´m determined not to let this happen to me in China! thanks chinesepod....
