‘北京的时间’
长时间
‘长的时间’
短时间
'短的时间’
小时候
‘小的时候’
起飞时间
‘起飞的时间’

Shénme isn't always a question word meaning 'what'.
Sometimes it means 'something', 'anything' or 'any'.
In these cases, ma can be added to form a yes/no question.
