谢谢! I guess my 'de' needs more practice.

Question, if I used '的' where I shouldn't, e.g. 北京的时间,

can you still understand?

DUH!  I am trying to 'know'(learn) when to use '的' without thinking about it.  From your example can you tell me if adding '的' is correct or not?

北京时间

‘北京时间’

长时间

  ‘长时间’

短时间

  '短时间’

小时候

  ‘小时候’

起飞时间

  ‘起飞时间’

I would put that in the same category as speaking. just looking would be just 'guessing'

Maybe women can tell the difference but I think for most they'll have no idea. Maybe a test? ;-)

When wearing makeup, it is VERY DIFFICULT to tell the difference between Chinese, Korean or Japanese women.  Only when the speak can you be certain.

Shénme isn't always a question word meaning 'what'.

Sometimes it means 'something', 'anything' or 'any'.

In these cases, ma can be added to form a yes/no question.
