February 14, 2019 at 4:43 AMI really liked this lesson - I can only cope with a few 成語/four character phrases in a lesson, if there's too many I zone out. This was just the right amount, they were explained well and they were the sort of ones I could imagine using, i.e. not too literary. Thank you for this - I feel encouraged to try more Advanced lessons.

February 2, 2019 at 2:15 AMTotally agree. Definitely need a native English speaker who knows which bits to point out and NOT have random chat. Keep it linked to lesson content. Often the random chat sounds terribly scripted anyways.

This 感情铁 reminds me of a guy from Shandong that we used to share a house with. He was always talking about his 铁哥们儿. I guess it's the same kind of thing.
BTW the pop up dictionary at 盛情难却。 is saying 'cheng qing' for some reason.

May 4, 2017 at 3:29 AMIn terms of how learning Chinese can change the way we think, the whole issue of 上火， 热气 is a good example. Before I came to Asia, I could drink coffee and chocolate on the same day without worry. Now I know I'm definitely going to 上火 and will need 西瓜汁/ 冬瓜汤 etc. to balance it all out.
