@iena I've sent you a private message answering your questions. You can check your email for message, if its not in your inbox, check spam. Summary: Needs Analysis is to test your level, Guided lesson is a once a week 10min lesson with a ChinesePod teacher over Skype, Teachers answer as many lesson related questions in your counseling tab as their time permits, and as often as possible, keeping in mind they may have over 20 different students each day. Either way we have received mostly (only) praise so far with regards to the counselling tab service. Give it a try. Feel free to ask any further questions you may have. I used to feel the ned to answer all the rhetorical type questions when I first came to China, and felt that people were nosy. I later realised that 1. they were being polite, and 2. When asked 干嘛去? (Where are you going?/What are you doing?) I didn't have to actually explain where I was going, what I was doing - just a simple 出去 (Going out) would suffice. I love China!

@richnirish One of our academic developers will answer you question with better accuracy in about 9 hrs when they arrive at the office.

However I'll take a stab.

'Bad' in the dictionary will have negative connotations, but often is used with positive connotations.

eg. 'That's a bad-ass haricut.' = great haricut

Think of Lihai along those lines.

@paulinurus Thanks for the reminder of the translation problem. It comes up correct in the AMS but when I regenerate the PDF it doesn't change, despite the HTML version being correct.

@Xiaophil

The order of vocabulary in the PDF is an AMS problem, however the new system is far more complex than before, therefore I can't just create a new pdf and drop it in the right backend file. I don't have access to the FTP anymore, it's all wrapped up in the AMS system.

The vocab is all there, it's just not in the right order, I'm sorry that this negatively effects your studies Phil but there are higher priority items in the queue (despite the multitude of problems that are caused by this PDF glitch). I would say that it will be a while yet before we can fix this problem.

Check out the new Skritter functionality, this is an example of higher priority items in the tech queue.

Also in future please PM these issues after they have already been addressed by us in the comments.

Thanks for your understanding.

Check out THIS POST for an interesting debate between Bababardwan and Changye on the usage of obscure words. The debate started here but it deserves its own thread. Enjoy! :D

@Desluo if you listen to the dialogue you will see that this is an actual conversation, believe it or not, these types of repetitive conversations occur quite often in simple every day Chinese exchanges.

As for the repetition in the expansion and vocab, I just checked and they appear fine on my end. Would you mind sending me a screen shot of the expansion/vocab problems, thanks. :)

@desluo ChinesePod is designed for people to learn Chinese. Here's a link to our official stance on people using ChinesePod as a personal ad board.
