@zhenlijiang hmm DP... Didn't you know that by simply invoking their name, they become aware of you, then snatch you from your bed while you sleep? :p

@Raygo Excellent picture. Long live the Radical Show!

I haven't yet been to Manila, but I'd love to go there. What are some of the culinary delights that can be found in Manila?

@Mystic I understand the difficulties you are facing. I'd suggest downloading as many lessons as possible, specifically the dialogues to your mp3 player. The Beauty of Podcasts is that you can take them with you where ever you go. So when you are traveling you can still create the Chinese linguistic environment that all learners need in order to get a real feel for the language.

@aryeh I had no trouble opening the pdf. Try clearing your case and trying again. If you still have trouble pls let me know.

@miantiao you're back mate! Nice Ned avatar. Are you back in China?

@villaneuva88 Hi that was me doing the audio review - listening to it was a painful experience.

Something was definitely wrong as I recall feeling quite lively when recording this lesson.

When our AMS2 is truly stable (hopefully next week) I will rerecord the audio review - until then please hold tight.

Thanks for your understanding.

When I started studying Chinese, I played the tapes over and over WHENEVER I was in my room, regardless of what I was doing or studying. The idea was to create a pseudo-language-immersion-environment. I'd tape any and every Mandarin movie off SBS and World Movies (Aussie tv/cable stations that play international content) and watch them whenever I could. This really helped.

Mystic, that's great what you are doing, the understanding comes later, getting a feel for the rhythms of the language is an essential formative step.

Hi guys, I jumped the gun on Lao Wang - the final INTERMEDIATE episode is in August.

@amesburygeorge It seems that this is yet another bug or glitch in the AMS2 system. John returns in a week and will orchestrate the bug fixing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@wenjong In this case Ken's phrasing 'its gotta taste really bad' is actually a bit off. The guy said it was 'really horrible' after drinking it. So there is no supposition involved here. In his first translation he said 'woah, that tastes really weird' which is more accurate as the guy is commenting on the taste AFTER tasting it. Also I'd say rather than 'tastes weird' I'd say simply 'tastes bad'.

If you haven't tasted it yet and want to make a supposition you could say:

我觉得应该很难和

wǒjuéde yīnggāi hěn nánhē

I think (it) should/must taste really bad

OR

这个应该很难喝吧

zhège yīnggāi hěn nánhē ba

that will probably taste real bad (idiomatic translation)

@sfrrr lol. That little announcement of ours created so much hysteria. You're cool.
