Another great Karaoke Classic - a shame this guy died in a car accident at age 31 in 1997.

朋友 Péngyǒu
This track is one of my favourite karaoke songs to belt out 2/3 of the way through the night - a few beers a gravelly throat...
It's also great for pulling out when you have to give face to someone important... (like a gangster, police, government, or business acquaintance)

July 2, 2009 at 3:27 PMSo I'm the first commenter today eh. Bang Bang Mang was hilarious.
Áng 昂 was a difficult one back in the day.
头昂起来 / tóu áng qǐlái / Lift your head up.

July 1, 2009 at 2:39 AMI love the line 不对劲. In my wife's hometown, 灵璧 in Northern Anhui, people use it to mean comfortable or uncomfortable.
For example 真对劲 is similar to 爽. After chugging a beer you could say 爽, or (我的个怪怪)真对劲! If you have an adverse bowell reaction the next day, when your friends call up you could say 俺不对劲 (我不舒服).

July 1, 2009 at 2:12 AMI'd bet he's sitting there singing to himself 'She drives me crazy, huh huh, like no one eh-helse''. And she's like 'We're caught in a trap'... :p

July 1, 2009 at 1:45 AM@Bababardwan Thanks for your input, but I'm going to keep it as a Yes/No question - makes the fence sitters pick a side. Failure to complete survey (silence) usually means one is apathetic and thus does not require change. Regardless of the complexity of the various arguments, it really is a straight forward and simple issue and will be treated as such. :-)

I understand your point of view, I have no personal preference with regards to this - in fact it would save me valuable time if it were ordered - I could just create repeating events (levels) in my CPod planning google calendar.
However the results showed that the majority of respondents preferred 'random' order. This majority is obviously not so vocal in the community.
There are greater priorities at present, but I will send out another simple questionnaire on this issue as soon as time permits.
Regards,
Matt

June 30, 2009 at 9:21 AMOne should always have a solid reason for a refusal, otherwise you will risk loss of face for one or both parties concerned.

July 8, 2009 at 2:48 AM@Mark Yes I am putting together a karaoke series of sorts - more like a series of karaoke themed lessons dealing with the various aspects of karaoke, but without any consistent characters etc.
@Xiaophil We will certainly cover underground music, however I chose karaoke first as it would be more common for the average foreigner to be taken out by the average Chinese to karaoke as a form of entertainment.
China has a hugely vibrant underground music scene, and dealing with that would be pretty cool. In the meantime checkout Neocha for Chinese indie music. Although there's a lot of soft stuff, I have come across some pretty thrashy metal before too.
