May 29, 2008 at 6:26 PMI am having trouble posting in non-lesson conversation threads. It keeps giving me a Comment Is Empty! message.
henning,
I'll have to give it a try at some point, although last I looked all the instructions were in Chinese... above my level sadly.

May 29, 2008 at 6:15 PMPerle, you can use the Microsoft Pinyin IME to write chinese characters. It is part of the language bar.

May 27, 2008 at 2:14 PMI have been listening to old lessons and I was having problems looking up words using pinyin having only heard Jenny's pronunciation, always due to n and ng problems. Now I know why! Now the question is, after talking to somebody from 上海, is there anyway to look up words in a dictionary without trying both versions (-n and -ng)? I love these lessons, very enlightening!

May 15, 2008 at 2:12 PMI noticed some echo in the podcast, particularly when Ken was speaking. Was this a new setup in the recording room?

May 13, 2008 at 2:55 PMI would love it if the exercises used different sentences than in the expansion. Of course I know the answers... I just read them! 100% every time. It would be better for learning if they were different sentences, so I'd have to think. Thanks though, 我很喜欢cpod.

May 13, 2008 at 2:35 PMI had a professor once who tacked "eh" onto the end of each and every sentence. It was enough to drive us non-Canadians mad!

May 12, 2008 at 6:00 PMFor those reading through this conversation late like me, there is a language bar pinyin tone mark IME for windows users. Check it out at http://www.chinese-forums.com/showthread.php?t=13005. All you have to do is switch to the ime and type the pinyin followed by the number and it automatically fixes what you just wrote. It's awesome!

May 30, 2008 at 1:39 PMWhen I had to give a high school graduation speech, my friend dared me to read Green Eggs and Ham. So I worked it into the speech and about half the speech was reading the book.
