There is more to life than beauty pagents. Glad to see a broader view. I may not use billiard language much, but I like to see it. I figure if I know it in English, I should know it in Chinese as well.

Henning

I think you are correct. I hear a lot of lispy "S" sounds mostly on Ambers mic.

All downloads play at the normal speed as well as MP3 dialog and The Fix. It is only via the play bar that has the little "pop out" tab under it that makes it go speedy.

I am using Mozilla- The audio on the expansion and on the line by line speaking on the discussion are fine, but the audio of the discussion from both the main page and from the dialog page are at hyper speed. I have not tried the lesson downloads.

你应该多吃一些新鲜的蔬菜。 (You should eat more fresh vegetables.) In the expansion- It sounds like the "de" is spoken more like a "ne"- it makes it easier to say. Is this my imagination or is my ear not distinguishing the sound?

I use Chinese pera-kun with Mozilla- a free add on. I am a newbie, but I still cruise even advanced with pera-kun-a mouse over the character gives several suggestions as to english translation. I try recognizing some characters and divining some by inference and others I really just don't understand, but I see where I have to get to. I don't mind characters thrown in. I am too cautious yet to do too much of that myself.

Ah Bluejay- you too are a SFBay area C-Poder as well as sfrrr? I am a newbie/lower ellie on the outskirts of SF and my little town has only Cantonese speaking owners who think that I should be learning Cantonese. I am not sure what happened to the 88 groups- especially the one that was for the Bay Area, but any Mandarin speaking establishments- I would love to frequent to practice. Most people are willing to play along with my fractured Mandarin and I always learn something even though some exchanges are awkward and embarrassing. I just keep smiling and it all seems to work out ok. Any suggestions?
