Thank you Amber- I would have tried a more literal approach with 舞台上 惊骇 wu3tai4shang4 jing1hai4. I have to give a small presentation in my Chinese class tonight and I would prefer to chew ground glass rather than speak in front of people because- 怯场 wo3 you3 qie4chang3) I have stage fright and I am afraid of speaking in front of people. 我怕在很多人面前讲话(Wǒ pà zài hěn duō rénmiàn qián jiǎnghuà)

What would you use for "stage fright"- fear of public speaking?

Can I get the new CD? I have done the bit-torrent but some of my lessons are clipped off and I would really like to have it all in one CD. I have been a Praxis subscriber since about last August 07. Would not mind if there had to be a moderate charge. On a slightly different note- I would like a lesson on buying jewelry, beads, gems. I am in the bead buying and selling business and just had a great opportunity to practice my newbiel language on Mandarin speaking venders in Tucson, Arizona where there in one of the largest gem, mineral and bead shows in the world and definately in the US. Measure words for strands of beads, how is it sold- by the gram or by the ounce- or by the carat. What is the material? Gold plate, Sterling? Base Metal? Words for Cloissone, turquoise, jade. Even with my very unsophisticated Chinese I had lots of fun and most everyone was more than willing to help me say thing properly. I even got a kiss- of course it may have had something to do with my Qing Wen tones!

Great lesson. The "visuals" of the alley are what really make this. If I ever get to visit Chinesepod- remind me not to go behind the building. How do you say "full moon"-as seen in the alley? Very funny and very educational! Love it!

Thanks excuter 午 时 三 刻 The time of day that was deemed to be the highest yang. An execution was always yin, even if the executed one had done heinous crimes, or was of high station. The time was to help neutralize the yin. Interesting .

I still would like to know a little more about why 午时三刻 has it's meaning. Is there history to this phrase? Are the explainations posted by excuter 4 character proverbs, which I have heard about and know little about. That would be a fun lesson to get a few of those with their history.

First time commenting as a newbie. I have been playing with Cpod for about 3 months and I do use ChinesePer-kun, which I found from reading the comments. I really like the comments from all levels because it often offers a different slant on the subject. I also like when a Newbie asks a question because I probably have the same one, or I may even know the answer and I feel so proud when it is confirmed to be correct! I have read a lot of the bios of the frequent and not so frequent users and feel a bit of a connection to a lot of these folks as their personalities unfold in their comments! I think it might even be cool for Cpod to put together a Cpod reunion in China. (Lucky Bazza!).
