Funny, Youku doesn't show up in the previous lesson dialogues searches I did, so I guess it was mentioned in intros, IDs, Titles and tags. But in any event, that's good to know.

As near as I can tell, Youku is the Chinese equivalent to YouTube, although Youku looks a bit more professional. I did casually observe that no one suggested a lesson on youku, but no one suggested a lesson on sina's microblogs either.

I guess we can expect that a lesson on Youku is in the lesson queue.

Interesting. I guess there are regional/city differences in the way taxis are run.  Why is the taxi fee 20-25% higher in Shanghai? It's not that way in Beijing, and it wasn't that way in Lanzhou, at least not in 2005.

Not sure what others felt, but I thought that the sandstorm earlier this year in Beijing was relatively mild.  A lot of wind, but there is usually a lot of wind in Beijing, sandstorm or not. Nothing got buried in sand; it was more like a slight dusting.  My wife says that Beijing sandstorms were worse 10-15 years ago.  Lanzhou got worse sandstorms.

I guess I couldn't really expect cpod to have their actor ask for a bottle of Thunderbird, but it would have been interesting to have them ask for a bottle of Chinese wine.

this mutual trust was violated every time the 10-year old kid that lived downstairs went through the apartments in our building and started switching off circuits in everybody's apartments as a prank.
