February 8, 2010 at 7:50 AMInteresting. I understood right away the Colts name in Chinese, and why it made sense. I didn't understand shèngtú for the saints, even though the MDBG dictionary translated it that way. Probably because I don't know the characters.

February 7, 2010 at 11:45 PMThe great thing about watching a super bowl in China is that you don't have to put up with the continuous pregame.

February 6, 2010 at 6:59 AMI know you can do wire transfers, but that's a big hassle, and you pay a fee for it. But at the end of the day, most of the bills that we get are for rent, water, heat, electricity and phone, and as you said, there's someone to give cash to, or do debit card. The problem is that the rent can be a sizeable chunk of change that you'd rather not walk around town with in cash.

February 6, 2010 at 5:23 AMDo you pay bills with the debit card, or only buy items at stores and perform other purchase transactions with these accounts? in other words, do these accounts have online bill-pay capabilities? I've casually looked at China Construction Bank's website, and I don't know the vocabulary for online bill paying. Maybe they have it.

February 6, 2010 at 4:02 AMinteresting to note that there aren't really checks in China the way that there is in other countries. Neither the demand deposit account, current account or fixed term accounts have checking capabilities. Looks more like they are types of savings accounts.
Interesting one day to see China get personal checks.

February 5, 2010 at 4:53 PMthe one-child policy was enacted around 1979 or so, so it's likely that everyone older than 31 has a brother or sister. Also, if you visit villages/rural areas, you'll talk to people younger than 31 that have brothers/sisters. At least I have.

February 8, 2010 at 7:53 AMthe game is 1 hour long, but with things that stop the game clock, like timeouts, incomplete passes and going out of bounds, the game lasts longer than 1 hour.
